Savage Silk raises funds for MacMillan Cancer Support

On Tuesday 2nd August, the team at Savage Silk organised a coffee morning in the reception area of The Core, Newcastle to raise funds for MacMillan Cancer Support.

Staff dug out their pinnies and baking recipes to offer a selection of home baked treats including cakes, tray bakes, pies and sausage rolls in support of the event.

Business who work out of Newcastle Helix were invited to come along for a treat and make a donation to the charity.

In July, a team of keen walkers from Savage Silk, took part in MacMillan Cancer Support Mighty Hike half marathon challenge, in Northumberland and at the time, they (Silks Scrambled Legs) were the top fundraising team.

The team spent a cracking day walking over 13 miles from Alnwick Castle to Bamburgh Castle along the beautiful beaches and fishing villages of the Northumberland Coast.  Fortunately, the weather was kind to them; it didn’t rain.  However, the teams taking part in the full marathon the previous day were not so lucky as the rain and wind descended upon them!  Our colleague Debbie Howes, being one of the participants the day before, did complete the full marathon despite the stormy weather.

Their fundraising efforts, for the charity, have raised over £3,000 and there is still time to donate if you would like to.  Have a look at the link for instructions – https://www.justgiving.com/team/teamsilk.

There’s talk of the team taking part in the full marathon next year so watch this space!
